Designed for hairdressers who are new to cornrows or want to revisit the basics. Learn how to prepare the hair, create clean sections and develop the hand positioning and rhythm needed for simple cornrow styles

Your learning goal:

Work towards creating a basic straight-back cornrow on a training head under supervision, with a clear practice plan to continue developing your technique.

Proposed inclusions:

A small group of up to four learners, use of a suitable textured training head and tools during the session, course notes and individual feedback. Equipment is for use during training, not a take-home kit.

Training covers:

• Consultation, scalp checks and deciding whether a cornrow service is suitable.

• Gentle preparation and detangling before braiding.

• Clean partings and planning a simple straight-back pattern.

• Three-strand plaiting, finger positioning and picking up hair into a cornrow.

• Tension control, hairline care and checking client comfort.

• Finishing, removal advice and guided practice with feedback.

Package 2 — Textured Hair & Cornrow Essentials

£395 per person | Two-day practical course

Understand the hair. Develop the technique. Build your confidence.

Combine cornrow foundations with essential care skills to approach curly, coily, and Afro-textured hair with confidence. This course gives you more time to explore preparation, product selection and simple natural styling alongside hands-on braiding practice.

Suggested structure:

Day one focuses on consultation, hair care, preparation and simple natural styling. Day two focuses on cornrow technique, finishing and supervised practice.

Proposed inclusions:

A small group of up to four learners; use of training heads, tools and products during the course; course notes and a personal practice plan. Practical washing requires suitable basin access. Confirm facilities before offering this package.

Training covers:

All topics in Cornrow Foundations.

• Curl patterns, density, strand thickness, porosity and shrinkage and why a curl-type label alone is not enough to plan a service.

• Consultation questions about scalp comfort, previous services, home care and styling goals.

• Section-by-section cleansing, conditioning and gentle detangling.

• Selecting products and tools for the client's hair and intended result.

• An introduction to curl definition and two-strand twists.

• Protective-style suitability, hairline care and avoiding excessive tension.

• Aftercare conversations and planning further practice.

Your learning goal:

Explain a suitable preparation and aftercare routine, then practise a simple natural style and basic cornrows with tutor feedback.

Package 3 — Private Salon Team Training

From £795 per salon | One-day workshop for up to four stylists.

Focused training, together in your own salon.

Develop your team's textured hair skills through a private workshop shaped around your current experience and service goals. A pre-training conversation helps us agree on a realistic focus for the day and identify the tools, space, and facilities you need.

Choose one main practical focus: cornrow foundations or wash-day care and simple natural styling. Consultation, preparation, respectful client communication and aftercare are built into either option.

Your learning goal:

Give your team a shared approach to the selected techniques and identify where further practice or training is needed.

Proposed inclusions:

One private teaching day, planning call, digital course notes and a team practice plan. Equipment, basin access and any model arrangements must be agreed in advance.

Training covers:

• A pre-training discussion about your team's experience and goals.

• Demonstrations tailored to the agreed focus.

• Guided practice and individual feedback for up to four stylists.

• A review of the tools and products needed for the selected services.

• A team practice plan and discussion of next steps before adding services to your menu.
